Sewage Waste Water Treatment

The process of removing the contaminants from sewage to produce liquid and solid (sludge) suitable for discharge to the environment or for reuse. It is a form of waste management. A septic tank or other on-site wastewater treatment system such as biofilters can be used to treat sewage close to where it is created.

Biological Wastewater Treatment

Biological wastewater treatment processes are primarily designed for the removal of dissolved and suspended organic matter from wastewaters. The environmental conditions are optimised to encourage growth of the micro-organisms which use the organic compounds as substrate.

Biological wastewater treatment is also capable of removing other wastewater components, including suspended solids, nitrogen, phosphorus, heavy metals and xenobiotics. In general the biological wastewater treatment is the most efficient and economic way of removing organic pollution from a wastewater.
