The difference between NIPS and TIPS of PVDF Material MBR Membrane

A: Could we know what’s the difference between NIPS and TIPS of PVDF Material MBR Membrane?

B:  Firstly, NIPS and TIPS are two types of methods for making the Hollow fibers, NIPS is the abbreviation for non-solvent induced phase separation, and TIPS is the abbreviation of thermally induced phase separation.

The main feature of NIPS Hollow fibers is that it’s visible in the porous supporting layer, spongy layer, and corneagen layer, with a uniform pore size distribution, and has good hydrophilia, but lacks elongation.

And the TIPS hollow fibers, it’s the thermal method of melting the PVDF with other additives like PVP (Poly Vinyl Pyrrolidone) at the temperature of 300—400 degrees, by injection process made these hollow fibers, and in the beginning no pore hole in the surface hollow fibers, it needs to extract by solvent.

From the microscope scanning photo, the NIPS hollow fibers, we can see the pore size on the surface.  And TIPS hollow fibers’ pore size is non-uniformity after solvent extraction and without good hydrophilia features compared to NIPS hollow fibers.

And right now, Hinada has two types of NIPS hollow fibers, conventional PVDF material and reinforced PVDF, any inquiries just let us know.
